The early months predate the freeze cutoff because a filing's date and its visibility are different facts: these are filings that never reached the classic register regardless of when they were made.
Why this matters
Anyone checking a collection agency against the classic Texas register alone will wrongly conclude that a recently bonded company is unbonded. Method
Texas file numbers are sequential within each year. The portal answers an exact file-number lookup even though it refuses bulk listing, so the sequence is walked lookup by lookup, each answer recorded verbatim, and the end of the sequence is taken from a long run of consecutive definite misses, most recently 91 in a row on 2026-08-13 (strong evidence, not proof: a filing beyond an unusually long gap would be missed). The freeze itself is re-verified against the classic register with positive and negative controls. Aggregates are published here; the row-level records are held by Debt Collection Index, and companies from this dataset appear as ordinary profiles once they pass the same review as every other listing.
Common questions
Is the Texas debt collector register up to date?
No. The classic Texas Secretary of State register stopped updating on 2025-08-12 and has added nothing since, re-verified by Debt Collection Index with a controlled probe on 2026-08-12. New bonds are filed on a separate state portal. As of 2026-10-05, 298 bond filings have been made that appear only on that portal, and 290 of those bonds are in force.
How does Debt Collection Index find filings the register does not show?
