Every span above is that state's own record: Texas from the Secretary of State's bond filings, New York from the city's license records. Full filing histories, sources and dates are on each company's profile. How the bands work: see the methodology.
Common questions about multi-state coverage
Why does multi-state coverage matter when hiring a collection agency?
Because collection is regulated state by state. An agency collecting from Texas debtors must hold the $10,000 surety bond Texas requires; one collecting personal or household debts from New York City residents must hold the city Debt Collection Agency license. A creditor with accounts in more than one covered state needs a collector holding each state’s own record, and this page lists the verified companies that do, with each record checked against its own register.
Do companies on this page rank higher than others?
No. Multi-state coverage is a coverage fact, not a merit ranking. Companies here are listed alphabetically, their bands on every other page are unchanged, and the two records are never merged into a combined figure, because no register asserts one. An excellent single-state agency is not worse; it is verifiable in fewer of the states this site covers.
How is coverage in two states verified?
Separately, against each register. The Texas span comes from the Secretary of State’s bond filings and only those; the New York span comes from New York City’s license records and only those. Each span carries its own dates and sources on the company’s profile, and the methodology page explains why the two are never added together.
